Evaluation of the Regional Creative and Digital Skills Action Plan – Digital 2010

Background

Improving the information and communications technology (ICT) skills of the Yorkshire and Humber population has long been a key priority within the Regional Economic Strategy (RES). The current RES 2006 to 2015 contains a priority action to deliver Digital 2010, with Yorkshire Forward as the lead body for implementation.

The purpose of Digital 2010 is to enhance career progression routes, improve employability and increase productivity across the region through development, implementation and ongoing monitoring, reviewing and evaluation.  Digital 2010 will be used by regional partners to ensure the planning and funding of digital and ICT skills development across the region is consistent and responsive to the needs of its people, its employers and its communities.

Task

The overall aim of the evaluation is to assess whether the delivered interventions within the Regional Digital and Creative Skills Action Plan (referred to throughout as Digital 2010) develop user, professional and citizen digital and creative skills for all individuals across the region.

Assignment

The evaluation and monitoring of Digital 2010 is a three year project, which involves a wide range of consultations with stakeholders and stakeholder organisations and key individuals in the region. The project has involved analysis of education, learning and skills datasets to establish skills baselines in the region and compare them against national averages and regional datasets. YCL is a part of the management and operational groups contributing to Digital 2010.

Findings

The findings of the study feed into regular reviews of the progress of the plan, and informs the future planning of activity in following years.
