Education, Children and Young People

The York Consulting team has experience of evaluating Scottish social policy and practice relating to education, children and young people.

We have delivered a wide range of assignments in schools, colleges and universities. We have particular expertise in the NEET policy agenda (young people who are not in education, employment or training). This social research has involved consultation with children, young people, teachers and lecturers, managers and senior level stakeholders, helping national policy development in More Choices: More Chances, the Scottish government NEET strategy.

Through our current and recent higher education sector evaluation work, we have interviewed key stakeholders organisations, enhancing our understanding of the main issues facing the sector. As part of our work, the components of evaluation projects have involved both quantitative and qualitative research including stakeholder interviews, case study visits to a large number of universities and colleges throughout the Scotland, telephone depth interviews with staff, students’ associations, quality managers, focus groups, and an online survey of students.
