Regional Development

The recent sub-national review of economic regeneration and development highlighted the importance of “the regional tier in developing overall strategy, identifying priorities and opportunities for growth”. The full ramifications of the review are yet to be felt, but the expectation is that the regions will be tasked with driving forward economic growth, with development agencies acting as strategic leads, but with an increased emphasis on delivery by local authorities.

Our regional development work focuses on Green Book project and programme evaluation; business and strategic planning; and policy reviews.

Recent projects include for One North East the evaluation of the region’s £500m Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) programme; for the Academy for Sustainable Communities (ASC) we reviewed their Year 1 business plan and helped to develop key performance indicators for their Year 2 business plan; and for EMDA an economic impact assessment for the proposed Robin Hood visitor complex.
