Youth Sector projects
In the past two years we have worked on many projects involving young people who are, or are at risk of being, not in education, employment or training (NEET):
-
We recently completed the Pathways2success programme evalution (Bolton Lads and Girls Club) which provided a range of support and opportunities for young people in Key Stage 4 at risk of becoming NEET. Our evaluation consisted of interviews with 40 young people and parents, interviews with stakeholders and data analysis to measure distance travelled. We also assessed the cost savings as a result of NEET being successfully prevented as well as outcomes achieved.
-
Our Evaluation of Targeted Support to Young People at Risk (Re'new) funded by YSDF involved considerable stakholder involvement including surveys and consultations with residents, parents and partner agencies (YOS, Social Services, Community Safety) to evidence the impact of a targeted serviceon young people currently disengaged from their local communitites. Key benefits of the service were the provision of sporting and creative fun activities with one to one tailored support.
-
Evaluation of Targeted Youth Support (TYS) Pathfinders (DfE). The 14 TYS Pathfinders developed new integrated services to support young people at risk of negative outcomes, drawing support from youth facilitates and Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP). Our evaluation explored the impact on both young people and wider communities, assessing the impact of different types of youth facilities and delivery models. The evaluation adopted multiple methods including: annual depth visits to Pathfinders, 42 longitudinal young people case studies; practitioner and young people surveys and comparative analysis of other non-Pathfinder areas.
-
Evaluation of VOYCE Programme (Chilypep, Sheffield) - Chilypep, in partnership with Sheffield Young Carers Project and Sheffield YMCA, have received Big Lottery funding to expand their VOYCE programme, focusing at increasing young carers’ voices and influence in the design and delivery of young carer strategies and services. The evaluation includes stakeholder consultations with local Sheffield schools, MAST teams and strategic stakeholders.
-
Evaluation of Innovation Fund and Young Carers Grant (Princess Royal Trust for Carers) - These two studies explore the effectiveness and impact of 35 voluntary sector young carer projects implementing family-focused approaches. A multi-method approach includes the use of validated assessment tools to measure outcomes related to levels of caring, resilience and wellbeing. In-depth case study visits consult families, practitioners and partner agencies.
