Evaluation of the PRISM Mental Health Programme

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Primary Care Mental Health Service (PRISM) co-locates mental health professionals in GP surgeries, enabling patients presenting with a mental health issue to access prompt advice and support and receive help in a community setting.

York Consulting was commissioned to undertake a formative evaluation of the service through five strands of activity:

  • An online survey of PRISM mental health practitioners, supplemented by qualitative consultations to explore key themes in greater depth.
  • Face-to-face consultations with PRISM patients.
  • An online survey of secondary mental health care professionals to explore the impact of PRISM on secondary services.
  • An estimate of the cost savings to the health service generated by PRISM.
