Sheffield City Region Skills, Employment and Education Delivery Plan

In 2017, York Consulting developed a delivery plan to support the ‘Skills, Employment and Education’ theme of the Sheffield City Region Local Industrial Strategy.

The work involved:

  • An assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the Sheffield City Region economy, focusing in particular on labour market and skills.
  • One-to-one and group consultations with employers in all industry sectors. The consultations explored future skills needs, implications of national skills policy and the work readiness of new entrants to the labour market.
  • In-depth consultations with school, college and university leaders to obtain their perspectives on local skills needs.

Structured around three overarching priorities, the delivery plan contains actions designed to deliver tangible improvements against key labour market metrics. It has since been used as the blueprint for the development of the other theme-specific delivery plans that will support the City Region’s Local Industrial Strategy.
